چکیده
The potential for acoustic metamaterials to provide a breakthrough in sound attenuation has been unlocked recent times due advancements additive manufacturing techniques. These materials allow the targeting of specific frequencies attenuation. To date have not experimentally tested an automotive silencer performance enhancement. This study investigates effect within representative silencer. results are then compared with commonly used techniques industry gauge effectiveness metamaterials. COMSOL simulations were validate developed test rig and experimental which obtained using two-load transmission loss method. Through this testing method, implementation labyrinthine DENORMS cylinder proved be most significant improvement silencer, increase 40 dB at 1500 Hz. It was also found that traditional hard wall internal baffle can improved by replacing it baffle. Acoustic as novel method companies attenuate frequencies.

Emission Enhancement of Sound Emitters using an Acoustic Metamaterial Cavity
The emission enhancement of sound without electronic components has wide applications in a variety of remote systems, especially when highly miniaturized (smaller than wavelength) structures can be used. The recent advent of acoustic metamaterials has made it possible to realize this. In this study, we propose, design, and demonstrate a new class of acoustic cavity using a double-walled metamat...
متن کاملDesign of an acoustic metamaterial lens using genetic algorithms.
The present work demonstrates a genetic algorithm approach to optimizing the effective material parameters of an acoustic metamaterial. The target device is an acoustic gradient index (GRIN) lens in air, which ideally possesses a maximized index of refraction, minimized frequency dependence of the material properties, and minimized acoustic impedance mismatch. Applying this algorithm results in...
متن کاملBroadband Acoustic Hyperbolic Metamaterial.
In this Letter, we report on the design and experimental characterization of a broadband acoustic hyperbolic metamaterial. The proposed metamaterial consists of multiple arrays of clamped thin plates facing the y direction and is shown to yield opposite signs of effective density in the x and y directions below a certain cutoff frequency, therefore, yielding a hyperbolic dispersion. Partial foc...
متن کاملDouble-negative acoustic metamaterial.
We show here the existence of acoustic metamaterial, in which both the effective density and bulk modulus are simultaneously negative, in the true and strict sense of an effective medium. Our double-negative acoustic system is an acoustic analogue of Veselago's medium in electromagnetism, and shares many unique consequences, such as negative refractive index. The double negativity in acoustics ...
متن کاملNegative acoustic index metamaterial
Acoustic metamaterials utilizing periodic deep subwavelength resonators can attain negative acoustic properties unavailable in nature. We have developed a negative acoustic index metamaterial for water that combines Helmholtz and rod-spring resonators to control effective bulk modulus and mass density, respectively. Effective properties extracted from full-wave simulations of our metamaterial s...
